Your resource for pre and post prostatectomy care –
Recover your sexual health and leak free life
A prostatectomy can be a daunting and life-changing procedure, especially with the unknown of “how will I recover?” Unfortunately, most people in the US are not referred to a pelvic health physical therapist and instead told to simply perform Kegels throughout the day. While strengthening and isolating your pelvic floor muscles is definitely part of reaching your optimal function, it certainly isn’t everything. The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia actually recommends consultation with a physical therapist both before and after your surgery in order to get the fullest picture and make your recovery easier.

Through our Prostability pelvic physical therapy program you will receive:
- A comprehensive evaluation of your body and how you move. Let’s find out what will make the biggest difference in reducing your symptoms!
- Education, and lots of it! From information on your anatomy and how it is impacted by surgery, to products and strategies that you will be able to use on day 1.
- Strengthening of your pelvic floor muscles, and the rest of your body that works with it.
- Coordination training. Make sure that your pelvic floor muscles are working in conjunction with your breathing and other components of your core to give you the strength you need to be leak free throughout the day
- Sexual health discussions (if you’re up for it). Changes in sexual health post-op are universal. Learning realistic information and expectations about sexual function can help the recovery process.
