Who Is Pelvic PT Actually For?
When people hear “pelvic floor physical therapy,” they often picture one very specific group: postpartum women. And while pelvic PT can be life-changing during pregnancy and after birth, that’s only a tiny piece of the story.
The truth is: Everyone has a pelvic floor, meaning that YOU (yes you) could benefit from pelvic PT.
How Can Pelvic PT Help You?
- If you leak urine when you laugh, cough, sneeze, jump, or run; feel urgency; go “just in case”; or have trouble fully emptying your bladder
- With constipation, straining, pain with bowel movements, hemorrhoids, or feeling like you can’t fully empty your bowels. These symptoms can all be related to pelvic floor function and we can help improve coordination, ease tension, and make bathroom trips way less stressful.
- If you experience pain with sex, tailbone pain, hip or low back pain, vulvar, vaginal, penile, groin, and testicular pain, and/or pain related to endometriosis, PCOS, or other chronic conditions… Pelvic pain is complex and isn’t just “in your head.”
- During pregnancy and after birth we can help with preparation; managing pelvic pain, pressure, or leakage, scar tissue management and mobilization and safe activity and movement. We will take a look at your pelvic floor, core and more!
Things to note:
- Athletes, weekend warriors, yogis, runners, weightlifters… pelvic PT isn’t about telling you to stop moving. It’s about helping you move better, with more confidence and fewer symptoms.
- Pelvic PT isn’t gender-specific care! We all have pelvic floors, and we work with folks of all genders and sexual orientations. Our office is a welcoming space for anyone who has felt excluded or misunderstood in traditional healthcare settings. You DESERVE care that respects your body and identity!
- One of the biggest myths in healthcare is that symptoms like pain, leaking, or discomfort are “just part of aging” or “something you have to live with” – that shouldn’t be the case! You deserve support from people who understand and who are highly educated to help you!
Overall, pelvic PT isn’t niche. It isn’t only for one stage of life, and it isn’t only for one type of body. If something feels off, uncomfortable, limiting, or painful, pelvic PT might be for you!
